2026 Valdese Torpedo Swim Team

The Valdese Torpedo Swim Team is a recreational summer league swim team that competes against teams in the Tarheel Swim League from Black Mountain, Forest City, Granite Falls, Lenoir, McDowell, Shelby, and Watauga. It is designed to be an introduction to the world of competitive swimming for ages 5-18. Swimmers will learn competitive stroke technique and race strategies all within a structured, supportive learning environment which fosters sportsmanship, accountability, and teamwork. Practices begin the Tuesday after the Memorial Day weekend, and the season culminates on July 26 with a championship meet which all are encouraged to participate in. The 2026 Meet will be held in Granite Falls.

Swimmers must be able to complete at least one length of the 25 yard pool to participate. We strongly suggest continuing with swim lessons if a swimmer is not able to complete a single 25 yard length without stopping.

Swimmers will need to provide their own swimsuit and goggles. Jammers are strongly suggested for male participants, and a one-piece swimsuit is strongly suggested for female participants. There will be a suit sizing day on May 2 from 12-1:30pm at the pool. T-shirts and a latex cap are provided with registration.
